This is the first post this quarter about unreached and unengaged people groups in the Chattisgarhi region of India. The following is a brief summary of the Aodheliya People group. They are considered unreached and unengaged.
The Aodheliya People number about 4,900. They live in the Chattisgarhi region of Southeast India, and their primary religion is Hinduism, the dominant religion of the Indian sub-continent. There are many forms of Hinduism, with their own beliefs and deities. The Aodheliya people tend to worship the Hindu deity Devi. Most Aodheliya people believe diseases come about by incurring the wrath of their gods.
The Aodheliya people speak Chattisgarhi and the Bible is available in their language.
The Aodheliya people have traditionally been pig herders, though they made a community decision to not do that kind of work anymore. Today, the Aodheliya are usually farmers.
How can you pray for the Aodheliya?
- Pray that the Aodheliya will be freed from spiritual bondage and worship Jesus Christ.
- Pray that their hearts will be filled with The Holy Spirit and that there will be an outpouring of The Holy Spirit throughout their region.
- Pray that God will have mercy on this area and that He will speak into the hearts of the Aodheliya. Pray that he will raise up bold witnesses for Himsrlf among the Aodheliya.
- Pray for workers, both native and foreign to cone work with and alongside the Aodheliya people group.
